Travelers guide – How to plan your visit for Nehru Trophy Boat Race.
NTBR or Nehru Trophy Boat Race happens every year on the second saturday of August. This is a sought after event due its uniqueness that its the largest sporting team event in the world and encompasess Kerala history and culture.
Snakeboats or Chundan Valloms as its locally called is taken out only during the races and riding it is an in itself. Each snakeboat is rowed by a team of 100 rowers, 4 helmsmen and 25 singers to the wonderful music of Vanchipattu.
10 Tips for travelers planning to witness the Nehru Trophy Boat Race
- Book your tickets online or through your agent and select the vantage point well in advance.
- Alternatively join any boats which is going to be a part of this event.
- Carry sunscreen, hat, umbrella to handle climatic changes.
- Carry water and short eats.
- Carry memory cards and power banks for your mobile phones or other equipments.
- Carry a change of clothes as the humdity is high and by 6 pm you will need to have a change.
- Leave your wallet at home and carry just enough cash for the day.
- If you are driving on your own, drop off your car in a parking lot at least a km away and walk down.
- Arrive at the venue by 10 am to be seated on time as the Event starts by 11 am.
- After the event wait for a while to avoid getting sTuck in the traffic.
