Appachimedu section is the toughest climb and once you reach Sabari Peedom its a cake walk from there on.It is said that at this place Shri Sabari of Sri Rama’s era performed Tapas. It is said that Sabari met Sri Ram & Laxman here and offered them some fruits to eat. The ayyppas worship at this place offering/breaking coconuts.
Close to Sabari Peedom all first timers or “Kanni Swamis” are supposed to perform a ritual at “Sharam Kutti”. All Kanniswamy’s are supposed to pierce their arrows here which they bought from Erumeli next to the Banyan tree.
