Once you have crossed the Ganapathi Temple you start the climb, the climb is 4 km strech which can be divided into 4 stages. Various stages can be segregated as Neelimala, Appachimedu, Sabari Peedom and finally the Marakkottam strech until you reach the Pathinettam Padi.
The pathway consist of concrete pavements, steps, rocks, sand and now the latest covered tiled floors. Its 30 to 45 degree gradient that you climb and is not easy
En route you will see lot of signboards cautioning the devotees about their health and conserving the forest
You also get lot of points which are pilgrim shelters to rest and shops which service you food and beverages, besides plenty of mobile shops which service you watermelon and pineapple.
As you progress you start breathing heavily as the climb strains you and drains you of vital fluids as you sweat profusely. The art of climbing lies in the fact that you go slow, keep you breathing intact and do it only with your nose, take short stops and drink enough fluid.
