Munnar Travel Mart (MTM) 2019

The Munnar Travel Mart 2019, a three day event was organized by Munnar Destination Makers from September 06 to 08 in Munnar. Main idea behind MTM was to re-introduce the tourism potential of Munnar to the world. The main focus of the event was to rebrand and reposition Munnar from a 2 night destination to a 5 night destination

The event, which focuses on business-to-business meetings and destination tours, with over 300 buyers, including tour operators, writers and bloggers from all over the country attending the event.

Tourism Minister Shri Kadakampally Surendran inaugurated the Travel Mart on September 7 along with other dignitaries like Devikulam Sub-Collector Dr Renu Raj IAS, Kerala Travel Mart President Baby Mathew Somatheeram, Munnar Catering College Chairman Tissan Thachankari, Munnar Travel Mart Chairman Vimal Roy and MDM President Varghese Elias

Various presentations introducing the new developments and possibilities in Munnar tourism were showcased to tour operators. A new destination promotion video highlighting the NEW destinations and activities in Munnar was released at the vent

The B2B Meet was organized were about 60 hotels and resorts in Munnar participated and this is how it happened.

On the last day destination tours were organized to familiarize operators with the NEW in Munnar

  • Kolukkumalai Tour,
  • Ponmudi Kalimali Tour,
  • Viripara Lakshmi Tour and
  • Top Station Tour.

Overall it was a well organized event and all the buyers who came to attend the same went back armed with new found knowledge to sell Destination Munnar better.

Munnar is now 5 nights holiday destination

Munnar is today the no.1 destination in India for holiday loverrs- be it families, honeymooners, friends, adventure seekers and more. But many are not aware of what Munnar has to offer apart form few popular attractions.

Karnataka International Travel Expo (KITE) 2019

Karnataka International Travel Expo (KITE) 2019

The long awaited flagship event of Karnataka Tourism ,Karnataka International Tarvel Expo (KITE) 2019 finally got off to a brilliant start. On 25th of August 2019 all registered buyers arrived in Bengaluru as per schedule directly or from their pre mart tours to wonderful relaxing day at Bengaluru. KITE was spread over 3 days from 25-28th August with a day dedicated for arrival. After checking at the respective hotels, everyone gathered at the Venue Hotel – The Lalit Ashok for a crisp evening.

For the first time it was a to the point and precise opening with the presentation lasting less than a hour. It was devoid oftalks by the VIP’s and a chirpy – eloquent MC ensured that everything went smooth. The Tourism Secretary T K Anil Kumar made an impactful introduction and showcased Karnataka in wonderful way. This was followed by a brief insight by Deputy Director General Mr.Shreevats Sanjay. Finally a first of its kind event with “dos and dont’s” was presented by the KITE Chairman Ayappa Somaiah.

The following two days was dedicated for networking between 400 buyers form India & abroad and 100 sellers from across Karnataka. As it was a restricted event vis-a-vis nos, it turnedout to be a quality interactive business meet spread over two days. Even though it was organized for the first time it , this fact was hardly visible as the hospitality was at its best. The best of hotels were chosen for stay, transporation was available all around, the food was wonderful and the spectacular teamwork was visible.

The sellers, buyers and media had only positives to speak about Karnataka International Travel Expo 2019. End of the day it was a successful KITE 2019 thanks to the amazing Public Private Partnership and a fantabulous teamwork.

Visa to India – Flexible E-Tourist Visa to be introduced

In a remarkable progressive move Govt of India has hit it on the nail for tourism by reducing the cost of tourist Visa to India. Tourism minister Prahlad Patel made this announcement during the inaugural ceremony of state goverment representatives on tourism.

A first for India this flexible e-tourist visa regime will be based on tourist footfall, with higher fee for July to March peak season and a considerably lower fee during April to June lean period.

India will offer 30-day e-tourist visa with USD 10 fee during lean period April to June and USD 25 fee during peak tourism period from July to March. He also said that a new five-year e-tourist visa will be introduced with USD 80 fee and a one year e-tourist visa with USD 40 fee. For Japan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, lean period visa fees is USD 10 and for e-visa of 30 days, 1 year and 5 years will be USD 25.

A welcome announcement which will be a game changer will surely boost India’s tourism footfalls. This proposal is subject to clearance form Ministry of Home Affairs and an official date of implementation would be announced post that.

Kerala after floods 2019

Nature turned its fury back on this year on Kerala with excessive rains, cyclone and floods again this year. This was a repeat of last year and last year it was south and central Kerala which suffered heavily ; this year it was the north of Kerala. Incessant rains led to  floods and unprecidented landslides ; many unfortunate ones lost lives and livelyhood.
