South India Tour

DAY 01: CHENNAI
Arrive Chennai. Step out and look for the placard with your name . Our representative will receive you and check you into you into the hotel. Proceed for a leisurely full day sightseeing of Chennai covering Government Museum, Marina Beach, Fort St. George, Kapaleeshwara Temple and Kalashetra enroute stopping for lunch in a local restaurant. Return in the evening back to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 02: CHENNAI – KANCHEEPURAM –MAHABALIPURAM/ 90 kms/1 hr + 45 mins
After breakfast proceed to Kancheepuram visit the Ekambaranathar temples, Vaikuntah Perumal Temple, Varadaraja Temple etc. Post the temple visit have lunch at the hotel nearby and then proceed to Mahabalipuram. Visit the historical shore temple, 5 rathas, Arjuna’s penance, Caves and Krishna Mandapam. Later check into the resort. Overnight at the resort.

DAY 03: MAHABALIPURAM –PONDICHERRY/ 140 kms /2.5 hrs
After a leisurely breakfast proceed to Pondicherry. Check in and later visit Aurobindo Ashram, the city of dawn; this ashram promotes Aurobindo ideas in bringing about a synthesis of Yoga and modern science, so as to unite the spirit and matter. After lunch at hotel, visit Auroville – a unique experiment in international living and in creating a new environment where men and women of all nationalities live together in harmony. Later spend the time in the evening walking through the colonial streets. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 04: PONDICHERRY
After breakfast free day.

DAY 05: PONDICHERRY-CHIDAMBARAM-TANJORE/75 kms +150 kms/ 1.5 + 3 hrs
After breakfast drive to Chidambaram, which has the famous Nataraja temple with the root of the Sanctum-sanctorum covered with golden plates is located in the centre of the town covering an area of 40 acres. In this temple, postures from the Bharatnatyam form of dance are depicted in sculpture. Nataraja is Lord Shiva as a cosmic dancer. After lunch at local restaurant, drive to Tanjavur enroute visiting the Brass factory at Kumbakonam. Tanjore once the capital of Chola Kings has the Brihadeeshwara temple. Post this check in and relax. Overnight at the resort.

DAY 06:TANJORE-TRICHY/ 60kms/ 1.15 mins
After breakfast leave for Trichy, short name of Tiruchirappalli, situated on the banks of Kaveri River is a blend of history and tradition as well as pilgrim centre, it is famous for Ranganatha temple at Srirangam. Check in at hotel. After lunch city tour visiting Rock fort and its temple at a height of over 23mts. Also visit Srirangam and Jambukeshwar Temple. Dinner and over night stay at hotel.

DAY 07:TRICHY- MADURAI/140km / 3 hrs
After breakfast proceed to Madurai and check in at hotel. The ancient city of Madurai, some 2600 Years old is laid out in the banks of river Vaigai as a lotus flower with the Meenakshi temple in the centre. After lunch city tour visiting – Meenakshi temple, King Tirumala’s Palace, Great tank and Gandhi museum. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 08:MADURAI- PERIYAR/140km/ 3 hrs
After a late breakfast proceed to Periyar. Check in and relax. Post lunch visit the wildlife sanctuary and take a cruise on the lake(due to new government rules clients will have to stand in the queue to procure tickets for boating themselves……….so this bit will have to be done by you- our representative will assist you in this). Return and relax at the resort. Overnight at the resort.

DAY 09:PERIYAR
After breakfast proceed to Vandiperiyar for a tea plantation and tea factory visit. Return and visit a spice plantation. Post lunch visit the Elephant camp for a 30 min elephant ride (subject to availability). Evening witness the traditional martial art performance of Kalari Payattu. Overnight at the resort.

DAY 10:PERIYAR – KOVALAM/ 290 kms/ 6 hrs
After breakfast proceed to Kovalam. Arrive check in and relax by the beach. Overnight at the resort.

DAY 11: KOVALAM
Free day. No activity, laze around by the beach or engage in the activities provided by the resort.
Overnight at the resort.

DAY 12:KOVALAM – KUMARAKOM/ 180 kms/ 4.5 hrs
After an early breakfast drive to Kumarakom to board the popular Kerala Houseboat at noon. It will take you on a cruise by the lake and canals giving you glimpses of village life. Evening it will be anchored and spend the night onboard. Kindly note the air-conditioning functions from 8 pm to 7 pm only, hot water if required has to be requested and the food served is traditional Kerala cuisine.

DAY 13 : ALAPPUZHA
After breakfast the boat will drop you ashore by 0900 hrs. You are then transferred to the resort (here you may have to wait for sometime and the check in time is 12 noon). Relax and unwind by the backwaters. Overnight at the resort.

DAY 14: ALAPPUZHA-COCHIN/ 65 kms/ 1.5 hrs
After breakfast you check out and drive to Fort Kochi where you get to see the Dutch Palace,
St.Francis Church, Chinese fishing and nets and the Jewish Synagogue from outside (it’s closed on Friday and Saturday). Proceed to check in to the hotel and relax. Evening witness the Traditional Art form of Kathakali, overnight at the hotel.

DAY 15: COCHIN AIRPORT DROP/ 35 kms/ 1 hr
Final departure transfer based on your air timings.
